Children's Book Update!!

I worked on book illustrations ALL DAY today... my hand hurts so much right now... ~_~' I don't know why I decided to do these drawing in fine point marker with my decorative style...but I did. The illustrations look pretty cool, but they take hours each to complete. I had four new poems to illustrate, and I finished illustrations for three of them. I also touched up several of the other illustrations, and redid one completely that the author wanted changed. I like the new illustration much better, and hopefully she will too. I plan to get the last poem illustrated tomorrow or by Friday at the latest... I went ahead and sent the author the PDF with the updated imagery and text, I am really hoping she loves them.

Pretty soon we'll be starting back into the Friendship Nine book (she's finally made some progress on it!)... and after that we'll probably start on another book she has on the back burner. I'm so excited. The Friendship Nine book project has already had so much exposure... from the announcement at the dinner gala (pics posted in a February post from last year) to now. I have to make sure I produce some epically, AWESOME work for that book... it's going to be my big debut as a children's book illustrator!!!!!

Here are the wonderful cashiers of the Slizzard Lizard (and one server that missed her photo shoot ^-^).
These caricatures came out SO well and all of my coworkers are so excited about this comic I'm putting together! I did exaggerate the heights of my friends... the three shorties really aren't all that short... but I thought it would be cute to make them that way. ^-^ Artistic License FTW!
Anyways... the back of the house staff is next...so stay tuned!

Here is the logo for the "Slizzard Lizard" " A fictional, non-traditional family restaurant located down in the Dirty South. We serve country style cookin' with all the fixin's, including beer. And if we don't appreciate your attitude, just know that we don't hold our tongues... real talk.

I plan to make a few comic strips based on situations that happen basically everyday in the food service/restaurant industry. This is meant to be a satire for my own pleasure and for those who I am close to working in this crazy industry. Please take no offense to anything posted, again, this is all for fun. ^_^

Today's News!!!

A teacher in Colorado emailed me saying that she loves my work and would like to incorporate "Prankster" and other illustrations in her lesson plans, and such. ^_^

Why is it when I do caricatures of other people...they are mostly recognizable... yet.. when I try to draw myself.......I look like every other person on the planet but myself?!

Sketchbook Project 2012

Well... this is as done as my entry to the Sketchbook Project 2012 is going to get. I like some of my sketches but overall I'm disappointed in this. For the Sketchbook Project 2013 I will definitely put more time, thought, and awesomeness into the imagery... Well.. anyways enjoy: The theme is "Time Travel" . I do have to say that I love the interactive part at the very end of the book, though. ^_^

2012 Update:

So far this year, I've received a few more poems from the author to illustrate for her poetry book. I've also been asked to work on a logo for a local basketball team, as well as an illustration for a wedding invitation. This year is starting off so well for my budding illustration career!!!!!!!

These are all relatively quick sketches and even quicker digital colorings... Technical aspects of these illustrations are not exact... and were never meant to be. These were all simply for the enjoyment of creating caricatures of friends, and are meant as gifts of appreciation to my friends for their love and support of me and my work.

...Now that the 2011 caricatures are done... I can get on to 2012! Cheers!
